National rubber ducky day is as simple as it sounds, it's day to celebrate rubber ducks! But why is there an entire day just for rubber ducks? That's a great question, let's look into that.
Number one, it's not stupid.. That'd probably offend the ducks, and number two.. It's been around for a long while. This day has been around since the 1970s, and again is a celebration of the rubber duck. The rubber duck having being made in 1929 by a man named Peter Ganine. The reason that it actually exists is to mark the day where it was easier to shape rubber.
There are many ways to celebrate this wonderfully silly time of year! You could organize a rubber duck race, where you go to a river and let some rubber ducks float to a certain point of the river. You could also make a rubber duck hunt, where you hide some rubber ducks around and have some friends or family members find the ducks. You could also make small crafts that link to rubber ducks themselves!
As a rubber duck collector myself, I find this holiday to be really important to me due to that. This day has been able to link to my special interest and actually is when I found my first rubber duck. I found the duck while I was swimming in a public pool, just floating about and having no person to be with. Of course, being the person I am, I had took the rubber duck in after asking around and having nobody actually claiming the duck. After that day, that duck has been the first and most cherished part of my collection.
